Anhui Polytechnic University is a key construction university of higher learning that provides multidisciplinary education. It is one of the national construction universities for the construction of basic capacity in the central region western region as well (Phase II). The university is located in a state-level open city, Wuhu. The university was founded in 1935 and went through several reforms: Wuhu Electrical Manufacturing School, Wuhu Mechanical School, Anhui Mechanical and Electrical College, Anhui Engineering Science and Technology College, and so on. The university was given approval as the first batch of pilot universities for comprehensive reform of universities in Anhui province. The university was also given the approval as Anhui Province pilot unit for systematically promoting comprehensive reform experiments.

Resources

The university possesses a total building area of more than 500,000 square meters. The value of the university’s scientific research and equipment is 314 million CYN. More than 22,000 full-time undergraduates study at the university every year. 1300 faculty members from home and abroad teach at the university. The faculties include academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as part-time professors, and high-level talents of different subjects. There are more than 50 teachers selected as famous teachers in Anhui Province. The teachers are of extraordinary scientific research ability and they supervise the research projects of the students very exquisitely.

Schools and Departments

The university has 13 secondary colleges that include The School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering and higher education colleges.The university provides 74 undergraduate majors including Liberal Arts, Economics, Management, Science, Engineering, Law, etc. The majors also include 14 national and provincial specialties and 15 national and provincial comprehensive reform pilot specialties. Furthermore, the university has 12 national and provincial education programs for extraordinary talents. Moreover, there are national off-campus practical education bases for college students are also available. Besides, there are 5 master’s degree fields of engineering, 7 master’s degree authorized categories, and 12 first-level disciplines available at the university. The university has also set up teaching case promotion centers and provincial professional degree case libraries.
