Anhui Polytechnic University (AHPU), located in Wuhu- a city beside the Yangtze River, is a provincial, multi-disciplinary university and one of the universities for priority development in Anhui Province.
The history of AHPU can be traced back to the year of 1935 when AnhuiST. Aloysius Technical Schoolwas founded by the Spanish Catholic Church.Later,AHPU experienced several major stages in its development: WuhuElectricalMotor Manufacture Schooladministeredby the formerMinistry of First Industrial Machinery,Wuhu Mechanical School,aCampus attached to HeFei University of Technology, Anhui Institute of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, and Anhui Institute of Technology & Science.
AHPU covers an area of 94 hectares with a total floor space of about 500,000 square meters. The total value of the instructional instruments and research equipment adds up to￥139 million and the school library has a collection of more than 1,400,000 volumes of books.
AHPU hasa faculty of almost 1300 staff;among them are 1000 professional instructors, including 500 professors, associated professors or other senior professionals.85% of the teachershold either a doctoral or a master's degree.A number of well known scholars both at home and abroad are also invited to work as part-time professors, of which some are academiciansfromthe Chinese Academy of Sciencesand academiciansfrom the Engineering Academy. AmongtheAHPUfaculty, 50 teachers have won various honors and awards at provincial level, such as Distinguished Teachers, Cross-century leading professors, Top Talented Professors, and Young & Middle-aged leading professors. Thereby, AHPU has developed a professional team experienced in education and excellent in academic research.

The “Journal of AHPU” has been selected as a journal source forthe “ChemistryDigest” of theUnited States andthe“Digest Magazine” of Russia.
AHPU has been active in its scientific pursuits and has made a lot of achievements.Over 3200 papers have been published in academic journals well known both at home and abroad, and among them, about 500 have been indexed in SCI, EI and ISTP---the three most authentic scientific research paper indexes in the world. In addition, over 100 prizes of various kinds have been awarded to AHPU and more than 40 of them are at ministerial or provincial level.
Of the research projects taken by AHPU, there are as many as 70 under 863 Programs, National Natural Science Funds or National Social Science Funds and the like, 30 designated by Ministry of Education orMinistry of Science and Technologyand 400 other projects by the provincial government.
In recent years, the university is active in expanding its programmes for international exchanges and communication and has established cooperation with someinternationallyrenowned universitiesinBritain, France, Germany, South Korea, Thailand and Taiwan, etc. The cooperation involves joint programs,studentscultivation and academic research.
AHPU is nowadvancing towards its goal of establishing ateaching & research--oriented university specializing in a coordinative development ofmulti-disciplineswithscience and technology as its focus.

Cooperative Purposewith German Universities
1. In order to improve the ucational level and enhance the friendship, the two universities develop the new collaborative relations. All the exchange activities would be hold based on the Memorandum of Understanding and Agreements. These agreements are intended to help facilitate a meaningful and mutually beneficial relationship between our two institutions.
2. Teachers exchanges: The two universities would receive the delegations or visiting scholars from one another to do the research and teaching activities for one semester or one year.
3. Students exchanges: The two universities would send students to the partner university for short-term exchange on holiday or during the semester. The students would be selected and recommended for studying in the partner university for one semester or one year. The two institutions would receive students from one another for a short term practicum.
4. It is agreed that both universities hereto shall cooperate in research programs as well as in joint program applications.
5.The joint education program would be developed to improve the educational and cultural exchanges. The joint education program could be divided into two programs, 3+1 undergraduate joint education program and 1+1 postgraduate joint education program.
